Astronomer is the company behind Astro, a unified orchestration platform built on Apache Airflow. The platform is used by data teams to build and run data pipelines supporting analytics, AI and data-driven applications; it is trusted by more than 900 enterprises, according to the company.
The firm is a major contributor to the Apache Airflow open-source project. Astronomer employs 18 of the top Airflow committers and 10 members of the project's project management committee, has contributed 3,200 commits to the Airflow codebase, and is credited with driving 100% of Apache Airflow releases. The wider ecosystem records 324m annual Airflow downloads, more than 3,600 contributors and over 44,000 GitHub stars.
Astronomer also runs Astronomer Academy, an education programme that has trained 57,000 students in Airflow and data orchestration. Its work sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, AI and open-source data infrastructure.
