Bobyard

Bobyard, founded in 2023, builds AI infrastructure using computer vision and NLP to automate material takeoff and estimating from construction drawings for contractors across trades.

Bobyard is an AI infrastructure company for construction trades, founded in 2023 by Michael Ding, a Stanford-trained engineer. Its platform applies computer vision and natural language processing to architectural and construction drawings, automating material takeoff and estimating work that has traditionally been performed manually by contractors. The system measures and counts materials from drawings in minutes rather than the hours or days a manual takeoff typically requires, and is reported to be ten times faster with fewer mistakes.

The company's AI takeoff and estimating platform is aimed at contractors across construction trades, including landscaping, finishes, electrical, plumbing and mechanical. Bobyard began with a focus on landscaping and is expanding into additional trades as part of a stated mission to modernize how the world gets built, one trade at a time.

Bobyard raised $35M in a Series A round. The technical work spans computer vision, natural language processing and machine learning applied to construction document analysis. Further details on team size and geographic footprint are not disclosed.
