Macroscope builds an AI code reviewer and codebase understanding engine that finds bugs, tracks changes and answers questions about code, backed by $40M in funding.
Macroscope is a developer-tools company founded in 2024 that builds AI-powered software for engineering organisations. Its flagship product is an AI code reviewer and codebase understanding engine: it tracks code changes, attempts to surface bugs before they reach production, and automates pull-request descriptions. The system uses Abstract Syntax Trees to construct graph-based representations of codebases, and it connects to issue-management tools such as Linear and JIRA to supply context for individual changes. It also produces real-time summaries of product development work and answers natural-language questions about code on demand.
The company spent roughly a year in stealth before emerging in September 2025. It has raised $40m in total, including a $30m Series A, with backing from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Adverb, Thrive Capital and Google Ventures. Its customers include multi-billion-dollar companies and enterprises employing hundreds of engineers.
Macroscope was founded by Kayvon Beykpour, Joseph Bernstein and Robert Bishop. Beykpour and Bernstein previously founded Periscope, acquired by Twitter in 2015; Bishop co-founded Magic Pony, a machine-learning and computer-vision startup acquired by Twitter in 2016. Beykpour led consumer product and engineering at Twitter until 2022. Technical work spans machine learning, static code analysis, graph-based code representations and natural-language question answering.
