Sapien

Sapien is an AI-native platform connecting to ERP and operational data systems to analyse transaction-level data and deliver autonomous financial and operational insights for finance teams.

Sapien builds an AI-native intelligence platform for financial and operational analysis. The system connects directly to ERP and operational data systems - among them SAP, NetSuite, Snowflake and BigQuery, as well as legacy on-premise ERPs up to 20 years old - and analyses transaction-level data to produce autonomous insights that finance teams can understand, verify and act on. The platform is used by companies ranging from the mid-market to the Fortune 500.

Central to the product is a set of autonomous AI agents that carry out complex financial analysis: variance analysis, gross margin calculations, management reporting, inventory allocation, pricing optimisation and driver-based forecasting. The system learns each company's specific context - every formula, definition and exception - and applies it consistently across analyses, flagging margin compression, cost overruns and unusual patterns as they emerge. The company states that this helps finance teams catch multi-million-dollar errors before they affect the bottom line.

The engineering work spans AI and machine learning, data integration and data engineering, forecasting and driver-based modelling, anomaly detection and pattern recognition, and natural-language and explainable insight delivery. Sapien is backed by General Catalyst and Neo, alongside operators from Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Ramp and Stripe. The company describes its goal as rethinking how finance teams operate in the age of AI, building toward an autonomous CFO.
