WorkOS

WorkOS is an API platform providing enterprise identity and access features including SSO, Directory Sync, Audit Logging and RBAC, with SDKs across seven or more languages.

WorkOS, founded in 2019, is an API platform that supplies the enterprise features software companies are typically required to build before selling to large customers: User Management, Single Sign-On, Directory Sync (SCIM), Audit Logging and Role-Based Access Control. The pitch is one integration rather than many. Its Single Sign-On product supports any SAML or OIDC identity provider through a single implementation, and the company claims this approach reaches the enterprise market roughly nine months faster than building the functionality in-house.

The underlying developer tooling is a central part of the product. WorkOS offers RESTful APIs with JSON responses and normalised objects, alongside SDKs for Node.js, Ruby, Python, .NET, Go, PHP and Java among others. Technical work spans authentication, identity management, authorisation, SSO protocols, SCIM directory synchronisation, audit logging and RBAC - a set of domains where integration design and documentation quality carry as much weight as raw feature depth.

Customers include OpenAI, Cursor, Perplexity, Vercel and Plaid. The company raised a $100m Series C and is valued at $2bn. Its stated design principles are developer-first tooling, ease of integration and broad language support across its SDKs.
