Sauna builds an AI agent that connects to 3,000+ tools to learn how teams work, remember key context and handle tasks autonomously, from a San Francisco base of around 20 people.
Sauna is an AI agent that learns how individuals and teams work, retains critical information and acts on their behalf, drawing on connections to more than 3,000 tools and applications including Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Linear, GitHub and Notion. The product drafts messages in the user's voice, tracks updates, files tickets and delivers continuous briefings in the cloud, with human oversight built into its autonomous operation. Founded in 2021, the company employs roughly 20 people and is based in the Presidio in San Francisco.
Technical work spans AI agents, large language models, workflow automation, memory and context systems, cloud computing and integrations. The company describes its architecture as a hybrid of AI and deterministic software: a shared knowledge store that both humans and agents can access and contribute to, alongside a multiplayer feature that distributes context and memory across an organisation. A unified interface, positioned as mission control for knowledge work, brings agents, tasks and connected tools together - a large integration surface that touches the systems marketing teams rely on for outreach, scheduling, reporting and coordination.
Sauna emerged from parent company Wordware (established 2021) and was founded by Filip Kozera and Robert Chandler. It raised a $30m seed round, the largest in Y Combinator history, with backing from Y Combinator, Spark Capital and Felicis. The team works in the office five days a week, with a stated emphasis on pairing autonomous agents with human oversight.
